Somewhere in my childhood I fell in love with the linen bound Zane Grey western novels. Imagine my delight to slip into the small town public library and see row after row of books featuring the daring-do of manly cowboys tamed by the sweet graces of virtuous women. Heritage of the Desert was one that stood out in my memory. I think of turquoise as one of the precious gems garnered from the dry barren desert land.
I love the brilliant sleeping beauty blue shade of turquoise magnesite...it's goes perfectly with a long summer sweater! In Heritage I brought together earthy vintage bronze, turquoise blue as the open sky, and calcite, cream as dried up sagebrush, then threw in a few swarovski crystal to remind us that even in what seems like waste land, there are revelations of glory. Necklace measures 35 inches.
I even made earrings to accompany this piece.
