I come from a long line of fiercely independent Texans on my Dad’s side. I think my father has always been proud that his birthday corresponded with Texas Independence Day, March 2nd, a day in which all Texans celebrate the republic. Did you know that Texas is, to my knowledge, the only state in the Union which wrote into their constitution that they have the right to secede? This year is particular noteworthy as it is the 175th anniversary of this most momentous occasion. And for me, well, my father is celebrating 88 years of life, quite an honor for a man who takes no medications, faithful labors in his garden, and spends hours reading. Way to go, Dad.
In honor, I present to you, Independence, showcasing Texas’ state colors of red, white, and blue in a dazzling (we Texas gas like our bling) bracelet. Faceted red and crystal czech glass, faceted blue jade, with a touch of silver.
