By the Light of the Moon SOLD

This is a literary week! One of the poems I've enjoyed reading to my children over the years has been Edward Lear's Owl and the Pussy Cat...I think I can quote it by heart now.

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea  In a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money, Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above, And sang to a small guitar,
'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love, What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are, You are! What a beautiful Pussy you are!'

Pussy said to the Owl, 'You elegant fowl! How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried: But what shall we do for a ring?'
They sailed away, for a year and a day, To the land where the Bong-tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose, His nose, With a ring at the end of his nose.

'Dear pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling your ring?' Said the Piggy, 'I will.'
So they took it away, and were married next day by the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince, Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand, They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon, The moon, They danced by the light of the moon.

By the Light of the Moon. 16+2 inches of shimmering blue green blister pearls, freshwater pearls, gray czech glass crystals, and antiqued silver spacers provide a background for the full moon-beyond-the-tree pendant. Necklace $33, Earrings $9

You are my Sunshine SOLD

Another selection from Oh Brother Where Art Thou is "You are My Sunshine," a song many of us sang in summer camp. Did you know it was originally written in 1940? Great song.

You Are My Sunshine

My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away

As I was stringing these citrine nuggets thoughts of sunshine, clear and warm echoed through my memory. Citrine is such a delightful gemstone. It brings the warms of sun to your ensemble.
You get a double layer of 20 inches of genuine citrine nuggets interspersed with coppery brown seedbeads (with a two inche extender chain). SOLD

Big Rock Candy Mountain SOLD

If you've been following my blog for awhile you'll probably deduce that one of my favorite stones is genuine clear rock crystal. It appears in numerous projects. Another favorite of mine is the Coen brothers movie, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, based on Homer's poem, the Odyssey. This film ties in my appreciation for southern hillbilly and gospel music, 1930's culture, and some downright hilarious movie lines. The acting is supurb. As I was creating this necklace, one of the songs from the film, Big Rock Candy Mountain popped into my mind. To me, Rock Crystal is reminiscent of rock candy, and in this piece, I've incorporated a collection of colorful Swarovski crystals which are reflected in the rock crystal--tangerine orange, turquoise blue, light grape, golden sunshine...The final product is right at 16 inches long (with a 2 inch extender chain), and hugs the neck. Coordinating earrings reflect this dazzling duo. So, if you haven't worn rock crystal yet, hop on the wagon!

Coupled here with the vibrancy of pure citrine and reflected with golden wire, I've assembled a collection in Scarlet!
