Honey Bear SOLD

We enjoy honey in the Miller residence. My personal favorite is honey on warm fresh out of the oven biscuits dripping with butter, honey with peanut butter sandwiches, and honey on Greek yogurt. Everything is better with honey, just as Pooh. And honey seems to taste better when it comes from one of those cute little bears, at least my kids think so.

Honey Bear is 16" long with a 2" extension chain and is created from genuine faceted calcite, rock crystal with silver elements.

Cherry Cordial SOLD

The first time I recall hearing of Cherry Cordial was in the Chronicles of Narnia, undoubtedly a favorite childhood read. It sounded so magical. In my recollection it was more of a drink there. Later I discovered the joy of dark chocolate covered cherries and every year at Christmas look forward to just one box.

English Tea Rose SOLD

During my graduate school years I lived in an restored antebellum Civil War era house which had been divided into apartments. Downstairs was a magnificent garden which my predecessor had cultivated. It teemed with flowers to accompany every season, but my favorite were the delicate English Tea Roses--fragrant and oh so lovely with their delicate pink petals. Today's necklace reminds me of that garden and those roses--variegated hints of creamy pink.

Composed of genuine pink opals, carved rosewood, coconut heishi, leopard jasper, and silver elements. 20" long with a 2" extender chain. SOLD

Anniversary Remembrances

Today Mark and I celebrate 13 years of marriage. It seems just like yesterday I came to him barefoot in the park as we celebrated our vows with a small circle of family and friends. Like many brides I wore pearls, an unusual woven choker I still have today. And somewhere in the attic is a box containing my dress. I'm sure in a few years I'll pull it out for my daughter to appreciate.

So, I blatantly take up my blogspot today to give a shout out to Mark who has been supportive of all my creative endeavors over the years. He truly understands that when I tell him I'm absolutely exhausted somewhere in me is just enough energy to bead. Happy Anniversary. I love you.

All this love makes me think of the color of love, reds and the softer pinks. Enjoy a week of lovely stones.

Carmel Toffee SOLD

I love sticky toffees. Delicious. And layers of rich caramels. Reminds me of the time in the Chronicles of Narnia (Magician's Nephew) when Digory's bag of toffees gets planted and grows a toffee tree. What an imagination C.S. Lewis must have had.

Composed of genuine rose quartz, crazy agate, citrine, agate, palm wood and amber. $19 Earrings $8

Tootie's Tribute Continued

Several weeks ago I shared Tootie's Tribute with you, a jewelry set I designed for a friend's mother. She wanted to bless the whole family! Now each of the sisters has a Tribute to their beloved mother, Tootie.

Links of silver chain in an adjustable length are adorned with freshwater pearl. Each set features a different shade of pearl, stud earrings, and coordinating bracelet. If you're interested in a similar piece, contact me.

Catching Up

I'm excited to share with you so many new pieces in the upcoming weeks! Between end of year school wrap-up and a little lakeside vacation time, I've been negligent on posting consistently. But I never run out of time for a little r and r in the evenings to watch an old movie and bead. Well, unless there's a riveting book to read. Actually on our recent vacation I didn't even take my beads. Now, that was truly getting away from it all. We spent several days at the lake fishing, lounging, and catching up on sleep and family time. My favorite line of the week was Julianna's repeated mantra, "I'm going to catch a fish and fry it up in a pan!" Three year old Julianna with her pink pole was a sight to be seen.

Celtic Moss SOLD

I've always been intrigued by the mystic of Ireland--the green isle of legend, music, and the lilt. Someday I hope to backpack tour castles, meet the natives, sample pub fare and engage in conversation. In the meantime, I've enjoyed reading Irish literature such as the detective series by Rallph McInerny, and the stories of Frank McCourt.

Beautiful moss green turquoise in a short neck-hugging necklace which features a pewter Celtic cross. SOLD

Blue Lava SOLD

Lapis Lazuli dyed howlite, silver plated oval loops, silver lentils, and baby blue Czech glass. 25" long with a toggle clasp. A real eye-catcher with a crisp white t-shirt and jeans. Coordinated earrings available.SOLD

Week in Preview

I've been in the studio whipping up smorgasbord in turquoise for you. Most turquoise you see in the store is actually dyed magnesite or dyed howlite--far more affordable than genuine pure turquoise. Even real turquoise is most often "stabilized" to bring you a rich color palate. What lapidaries refer to as green turquoise, white turquoise, pink or any other color besides the traditional blues is dyed chalk or howlite. Genuine gemstone quality turquoise is quite expensive, and the most rare is a pure sky blue, Sleeping Beauty. And you'll recognized African turquoise as having a distinct yellowish tone.

I am pleased to offer you a range of charming, eye-catching, and affordable pieces this week created from these creative substitutes!

Tender Expectations SOLD!

Have you planted your spring garden yet? Most avid gardeners would already have neat rows of green sprigs arching their backs towards the sun by now. Living in a town home, it's been impossible to have more than a few potted tomatoes for several years. I feel so blessed. My neighbor and friend, Crystal, and I planted a garden last week in her father's back yard. What a treat! Rows of tomatoes, peppers, beads, peas, cucumbers, Brussels sprouts, onions, carrots, beets...We drive out a few times a week to water and end our plants. How exciting to see little shoots as the early bird radishes rose up to greet the sun.

Early Expectations reminds me of our garden. The cool blue sky and tender green leaves--the possibilities of more.

Blue Jade Rounds, and Minty Jade Ovals, linked with silver wire and finished with a hook.

Breakfast at Tiffany's SOLD!

Breakfast at Tiffany's
What a great story! I've always been mesmerized by the mystic and alluring ideal of Tiffany's. The ubiquitous blue box, silver ribbon, the mystic--so many ways to make a woman feel special. When I think of Tiffany & Co, a particular shade of blue coupled with stunning silver captures my imagination.

I hope you enjoy this bracelet and earring set as much as it struck me. Composed of dyed blue jade, helix crystals, silver accents and wrapped with silver wire.

And hopefully more affordable!
